Every now and then, a day comes together where the weather is right, the route is right, and the roads are perfect. Today was one of those days.

The ride wasn't a long one, no more than 200 miles, but the Bonnie was running as good as she ever has. The Beemer and ST1300 were left sulking in the garage.

I've done nothing to this bike aside from minor suspension changes, TORs, low bars with bar end weights, rejetted the carbs .... that's it. I think I hit the right combination, and that's all it seemed to take to wake her up. She runs thru the twisties and the straights like the little champ she is. Iceing on the cake ..... 50 mpg!

I had originally intended to do some cam timing changes this spring, but the bike is running sooooooooo nice, I think all I'm going to do is change out the shims that require it, and put her back together as is. She's running and riding too good to mess with success.

Who'd have thought that a little 790cc-powered bike could make a long time Beemer rider such a happy guy? I think this bike is a lot like my long-gone Miata .... she makes me feel like a better rider than I am, and that's a good thing.

I know how you feel--the bike can be amazing. Last Friday I rode down the the Asheville Triumph dealer. They also carry Ducatis and I've got to say, they are beautiful bikes. It was my first chance to see the GT1000 in the flesh and they were gorgeous, but too high for me to feel comfortable on. Then I sat on a Monster 695 and S2R 800. They were a perfect fit, and so gorgeous. I thought "well maybe with that nice little windscreen . . ." I was having serious bike lust and they had several sitting right there. Very dangerous, and then I realized that aside from all the issues of Ducati ownership, I would essentially be duplicating the T100, at least in terms of my purposes. I use the Bonnie for the twisties around here, for exactly the same kind of riding you'd want a Monster, and the Bonnie is hugely fun and competent. The Monster would be great for awhile, then I'd go back to the Bonnie and feel guilty about the payments and upkeep on the Duck.

Nothing wrong with dressing up the covers, badges and seat.

Theres not much more you need to do to enjoy the bike. It's all a matter of doing yur thing and RIDING that bad boy! Great stuff and have fun.

Hello ohiorider,
I had the same day here in Chicago yesterday.
I took a ride along the twisting roads of the Illinois river with a few Buddy's,they rode a Moto Guzzi LaManns, A Monster, And a Kaw 650 , and me on the Mighty Thrux.
They can out run me on the straights for sure, but in the twisties we would all be at the end of the run together.
We ran 95mph to 105mph for miles and the Thrux hung in there like a champ.
I read some where in here that it is more fun to ride fast on a slow bike then slow on a fast bike, I lived that saying yesterday..................................
