In my neverending quest to improve my Bonneville I thought of upgrading the Ignition Coil, Spark Plug Wires and Spark Plugs with the following after market items:

NGK IX Iridium Spark Plugs
Premium Ignition / Spark Plug Wires
Nology ProFire High Performance Ignition Coil

Has anyone purchased these items and noticed a marked improvement in performance?

If you want horse power I would not look to ignition spark.
Those are all fine products though.

Airbox removal, freeflowing pipes, aftermarket carbs, bigbore kits...these thing's will give noticable improvement's in performance.

If you spend enough $, your mind can convince your butt dyno that the performance has increased--even on bling-bling items. :-D :-D

Jeez, from the responses, I guess these upgrades are not worthwhile.

Anyone who actually took the leap and did this mod care to weigh in?

I think he did, our bikes have an excellent ignition system. There's no problem with a weak spark, not even mine, and I'm sure there is only one other person out there running a turbo  that would have more cylinder pressure than I do.

I think there's quite a few folks who have done this;we are all looking to have a cheap (relatively) performance boost. If it gave extra ponies you can bet we all would be throwing down the $$$.
I went with the Iridium plugs. :-D
The Nology coil is a great alternative to replacing a defective coil;much cheaper than the stock.

brownbomber,
My Speedy has the Nology Coils and Hotwires w/ stock spark plug. I don't think I noticed any difference in HP. My fuel mileage has always been great though. Before I installed the ghetto-freak I was getting 160 miles before reserve. Now I'm getting 145 miles before reserve.

If your looking for better sparkage a cheaper option might be to index the plugs. Here's just one article out of many out there.
Indexing Plugs
