I was at my local Triumph owners club last night & there was a guest speaker from Triumph, he told us that there was going to be something special for the Bonneville 50th anniversary in 2008 (might have been 2009?), also fuel injection in 2008. Factory 4 will supply USA with Bonnevilles & most castings will now come from factory 5 as the current suppliers can't meet capacity. Bonneville production is currently 17% with the speed triple the biggest seller. If I can remember anything else I'll post it, there was a question about spokes, & the response was that it is because there was a change from plated steel spokes to stainless, which is more brittle, they did not think it was a major concern as there have been about 12 or so broken spokes out of 23 000 bikes sold.

Get a Tune Boy and you can "tinker" with FI until the cows come home. It will be great!
I'm sure it will require a new look at how we tune bikes but I have already got my Triple running great with help from a techno friend. That electronic tuning is great. Get use to it -it is the future here now and it works!

I'm not sure giving the Bonnie FI is a good thing.
Oh, it's a good thing. A very good thing.

Fuel injection is only fitted so it can pass the new emmission tests, no performance gain

Not true at all! EFI has so much more control over fuel, timing and spark... Now add E85 and more compression! Yeah, bring it!

Thanks for this info Dickie. In my geekier moments, I've wondered about some of the sales figures / ratios you mentioned so its good to have some sense of where the money is. Interesting the the S3 is the biggest seller - not sure I'd have made this assumption but now we know.

Does this mean I need to buy the S3 next and not the D675???

Decisions, decisions....

The first Bonnie came out in 1959, so if there will be such a thing, it should come out in '09.

You will see EFI on '08 Bonnies.. (from the horse's mouth).

I wonder if the 2009 Bonnie will be in light grey (not white) and orange?
