I went to the local Goodwill store every other day for two weeks hoping a size 54 well-worn leather jacket would show up--- never did. However, a co-worker GAVE me a heavy classic, Marlon Brando-type jacket that rocks in the cold weather.... (What he was doing with that jacket I'll never know.)

If the day comes I can't get into that jacket... ugh... I don't even want to think about it. ( I use a Nexgen armoured mesh in the summer.)

Be safe!

The better question might be is one enough...

I do have an old jacket. Haven't really counted the years but it must be at least 25 years.

Eric,

I'm not giving up my beloved 54 short Black Leather, but I have a jacket you might be interested in. It claims to be a size 52, but it's HUGE!!! Black leather, removable liner, zippered vents, traditional 'look' w/contemporary braid trim (albeit subtle). NEW!

I paid the guy $100.00 for it, sight unseen. I think it must be a size 56, honest to God it's big. As a short guy, I knew I was taking a chance with it..... but I (was) pretty big (Weight Watching now....).

I can post a picture of it if you're interested, your's for $100.00, I'll pay the shipping. PM me....... ANYBODY!
(uuuuuh, I gotta XXL First Gear Kenya too if anybody is interested)

Thanks for the offer Pat... I'm set for now! I'm happy with classic and the Nexgen--- at least while they still fit!

Congrats on the lost poundage! Last year there was a thread that stated less weight was the best way to speed up a bike!!

Be safe!

Hey Guy's, I think I have the record, so far. My leather jacket is 44 years old and in perfect condition. I am 62 years old and when I bought my first motorcycle, in 1962, my Mother bought me a leather motorcycle jacket so I would "be safe". I have used the jacket all these years, but I admit, I have had long periods of no riding followed by a few years of riding. In the early years I remember using saddle soap on the jacket, but other than that I have done nothing to in the last 30 years.

Now I use it all the time, and love it. I remember it was made by a company in Ventura California, maybe "Ventura Leather"? My Mother bought it in Pasadena Calif. What's fun is to look at the scars on the leather and remember those crashes, WOW!! Thanks Mom!

Should I be treating the leather with something to preserve it?

I have 4 that I use. One belonged to my friends Grandfather and is made of goat skin. One is an Army surplus bomber jacket and one I had custom made in 86'. The newest one I bought in Virginia City for $19.95 {I couldn't pass it up}. Pic of Virginia City.

I have a Schott Brothers Perecto Jacket. I received it as a gift in 1973. Still in use and looks great.
