Do you have to smog your bikes?? Last I checked there were no bike smog checks, but...who knows?

No, and i have a feeling it won't happen anytime soon because i'm sure the govt wouldn't want to deter bike sales because they are good for the energy situation. They even give bikes here diamond lane privileges, so i think untill bikes contribute to a large portion of the enviornmental problems they won't be targeted. I sure hope i'm right too because if i had to set the speedy back to stock i would be a very unhappy rider.

I had heard that bikes made in 06 and forward were required to be smogged, but I checked the DMV website and it says:
Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is:

Hybrid
1975 year model or older
Diesel powered
Electric
Natural gas powered and has a Gross Vehicle Weight rating of 14,001 lbs. or more.
Motorcycle
Trailer

Other Motorcycle: but then the Speed 3
Is that just for new bikes or any bike cause over here in Phoenix you have to get an E-check (smog) if your bike is older than 5 years.

Before I moved from San Diego to WA state, you didn't have to smog motorcycles, but that was in 2002, so I don't know about now.

Also, I was told by CHP that they will rarely ticket motorcycles (although I got a ticket for playing around on a Gixxer). I once drove by a speed trap at well over 90 and they didn't pull me over. California is a cool state for motorcycles.

Hey Meatwagon,
It must have been another black & white bonnie. I've haven't been up to Mt. Soledad in a long time. I go up to Mt. Helix alot and ride around the twistys out East quite a bit.
San Diego is a great place for a motorcyce enthusiest to live!

No smog required, BUT if you buy a bike from outside of CA, you have to have at least 7500 miles on the odometer, regardless of year, make, displacement. It is an absolutely silly law, it bit me once, so I had to drive out to Phoenix to sell the bike.
