I performed a baffelectomy on my bonnie today. It was almost painless. I just removed the rear baffels. One was out in less than five minutes. The other was stubborn, but it eventually came out after a few select words and some inginuity. The sound is a pleasant surprise.

The reason I'm posting this is to say thanks to all of you who have posted information on the process, especially CarlS and kdlutes. I couldn't/wouldn't have done it without the excellent information from this site.

You know, I spent over $500 for parts and labor for my Triumph off road pipes, and I wonder if I could have done just what you did and got close to the same affect.

I'm ambivalent still because although I enjoy the sound of the new pipes, I miss the quiet of the OEM pipes. Go figure.

I've never had a chance to hear the off-road pipes on a standard bonnie. Removing the rear baffel made the sound slightly louder and a little more "growly". From what I've read here, I believe I would have had to drill the second baffel to achive the results of the TORs.

All in all a good result. I didn't feel like I was waking the neighbors this morning, but then again, they probably deserve it after some of the stuff they've pulled. The bike now sounds like a motorcycle instead of a blender.

I think you may have gotten a pretty good deal on the TORs. My dealer quoted me over $600 to put them on. I just couldn't do that right now. Maybe one day I'll move up to NH Togas, but for now, this will do.
