I had a guy back out of his driveway this morning and never looked, of course, I was looking and laid down on my "horn". He never even heard me and I stopped about 3 FT. from his car easily. Forced him to pull back up so I could go around. The problem is he never heard the rinky dink horn on my T100. Why is it that the DOT can legislate the noise of mufflers but don't care whether a horn is loud enough to be heard. Ridiculous! I just orderd a new horn last night. Any thoughts?

Could be worse, I had a guy back into me and roll up onto my front wheel, bending my front fender before he stopped. I had the horn going the hole time as I was frantically trying to back up and get out of his way. He said that he heard it but didn't think anything of it as it sounded really far away. My fist left a rather large dent in his tail gait, but my poor bike looked worse for wear. Luckily he wasn't stupid enough to deny it to his insurance agent. I bought the louder horn from newbonneville.com and it is definately louder. Who knows if it makes a difference.

Cheers

Try the 132db "Highway Blaster" from Autozone for about $15 .
I had to use the existing mount from the stock horn because it has rubber grommets to isolate the ground, otherwise the Highway blaster went off as soon as I turned the key on.
The plug with the (2) wires on the bike's OEM horn is the + hot side.
Definitely not that Roadrunner BEEP BEEP sound of the stock bike.

RV- How did the new horn work out? I just bought a thruxton and I'd love to scare the people who keep cutting me off on the highway. Is it loud enough for you?

Man, you ride Beemers and don't have Fiamms? :-D

I have dual Fiamms on the old airhead. Love 'em. No place for 'em on the Speed Triple (would probably be easier on a bonnie), so I got a Stebel Magnum. Fits the original mount and no relay required.

If I had room, I'd have one of these:

Stebel Nautilus Compact Air Horn

It will kill small mammals.

Hey new forum user, people might be more apt to respond if you don't dig up such old threads. This one is a year and a half old!
