I was wondering..

What do most people decide to do with the pegs after they change to the M-bars. Do they keep the original or do they push them back?
I'm 5-10 and haven't yet felt the great need to push them back, but I wonder if I'm missing something or some shear joy... I do ride on the ball of my feet though.

Just looking for general input and thoughts on the choices.

I've got Ace bars, which are even lower than M bars, and I think the foot position of the stock midsets is very comfortable. Only reason I want to get rearsets is to increase cornering clearance.

With the M bars some fit rearsets, others don't. It really depends on whether or not you are comfortable with the current setup.

I needed the rearsets because the stock pegs, in conjunction with the M bars, had me creased in the middle. If you're not having that problem, then rearsets are an unnecessary luxury.

I'm the guy with the green and gold T100 that was at the last RAT run. If it fits your schedule, we can meet up somewhere this weekend and switch bikes for a few miles if you want to see what rearsets with M bars are like.

I recently installed M-Bars w/risers on my BonnieBlack. I also have short arms, short legs, and well.... I'm short. If I thought that I wanted to spend another $300.+, I wouldn't hesitate to replace my factory pegs with some rear-sets.

I think that with the addition of lower bars and rear-sets, one is more closely replicating the ergos of a natural riding position on a motorcycle.... when riding at speeds in excess of 45 mph.

The added bonus (for us short folk) is that the legs/feet hang straight to the ground without the factory foot pegs getting in the way. That is to say, it's easier to reach the ground at stop lights.

Besides...... all that fancy aluminum down there looks hella cool! :-D

at 6'2" i'm feeling the need to buy some rear sets since putting on the m bars. but at $400 for the NH rear sets it's going to have to wait until spring.

got m bars no rear sets, at 6'1" I am pretty comfortable, although I could use rear sets, but would rather spend the money on some rubber and suspension before i do the rear sets.

TrumpetPlayer - I won't be able to this weekend. I'm heading out of town for week. Possibly next weekend? If the weather is right, we can even see if the RAT will do an impromptu...

All - I wonder if the position and angle of the grips and clutch/brake actually also play a roll in whether one feels the need to get rear sets.

I have the M bars on my '02 Bonneville. I am 6' and felt the need for rearsets. I purchased the LSL billet aluminum rearsets. I have been quite happy with them. Ergonomically, they are just right. I also have the Corbin Smuggler seat, so the whole combination seems to lock me into the bike which is great in the twisties.
