Any big issues with a 1970 low mileage Bonneville? (other than the kick start). Its a 650. Jack

You really should ask the people on the classics, vintage forum but I'll have to say " There's nothing like the real thing".

I've got 8 Meriden Bonnies, the '70 is one of my favorites.

Mine is very ratty, but will fire and run with minor fettling after sitting for a year.

I just restored my '69 last year and it's unbelievably strong for such an old bike; the '70 is next!

From my recall the 69 & 70 were the best years made as with many other bikes (cars too!) Kinda the last real hurrah for the true 4 stroke engine as it was? Capt D

Watch out for damaged con rods, my friends took a trip through the bottom of the cases and damaged the lower frame tubes. Otherwise one of the best, incorporating all the mods before noise and pollution control became an issue.
Auto advance units can be a problem at high mileages and do not be afraid to substitute newer electronic components such as rectifiers and zenners. Keep an eye on the alternator rotor and stator, if they become loose they sound like mains failure and can self destruct . My Bonnies were 73,76 and 78, they had none of the style of the 70 model but all went on for 65000+.
