just out of curiosity: How long do you think a chain would last on a Speedmaster. Yes, I know there are a lot of variables that can play into the issue.

Another thing - is the stock master link visible at all. Myself and two highly mechanically inclined people looked and couldn't find one.

On another note: yesterday while at the post office I noticed my Speedy had 11,111.1 miles on the odometer. I saw it coming and should have captured the moment with our friends at Kodak. - darn

There is no master link, it is a one piece chain. To replace it you need the expensive special link crimping tool.

I got about 16,000 miles out of the stock chain & sprockets. I'm just over 30,000 and I'll change it out again at 32,000 miles when I take it in to get the valves adjusted. Looks like I might need to get the cush drive rubber changed at the same time. I'm starting to get a little bit of play in mine now.
