Question 2000 TT600 Crankcase Bad What Swaps

New Member. Threw a bearing through my crankcase halves. Have tried to find used one's on eBay. Had some luck but found that the Speed4 and Daytona600 look similar. Do they match? Can i swap them in place? Any other suggestions?

the speed4 and daytona 600 engine cases are suposed to be the same as the TT engine.
both models were based on the TT, especally the speed4.

plus i'm willing to bet money the daytona 650 block will work too. it has a stroker crank in it.

TT600 and S4 cases are interchangeable, but the S4 cases are black while the TT600 are natural finish. The part numbers for the Daytona cases are different from the TT600, but they might be interchangeable—not sure however.

More importantly than finding the cases is deciding if it is worth the money to do what you are trying to do. I have always wanted to rebuild a modern Triumph 600 or 955 and I thought I had the chance when I bought my TT600 that had a problem with the shift shaft mechanism being disconnected inside to where no gears could be engaged. I would have to split the case to repair this so I looked into gaskets and whatnot. What I found was that the gaskets needed for splitting the case alone would cost almost as much as a low mileage used engine. You'll also need main bearings, and maybe rod bearings depending on the amount of metal shavings that were present, which will add to the cost. Just food for thought.

Question

Thanks For the ebay searches. I have however seen those already. To Bombfactory. You mentioned a gasket between the crankcases. I find no gasket between the lower halves but do between the upper and the lower. I am looking for the lower crankcase halves. Here is a scematic on bikebandit.com. Otherwise still interested if daytona600 will match up?

Gaskets are # 35 under 'Cylinder Head.'

ther is no gasket between the case halves, its just a small bead of glue (hondadond for my dirtbike).

#35 is a complete gasket kit that you will need to assemble a motor from top to bottom.

me i'd get the complete motor ,give it the once over and install it. cheaper & less time.

Some #35 gaskets are still needed in splitting the case unless you wish to use the old ones. Depending on the age and material of these gaskets that might not be a wise choice as it could lead to leaks. Also, the manual states that crankcase halves should not be mixed but must come from the same engine as a mated pair.

I plan on getting the two lower halves in a pair then matching it to the upper half. I've found better deals on daytona 600 blocks with less miles. Just still unsure if it is the same block.
