Thinking of buying a speed 4 to replace my smashed up CBR6 sport. Would like to hear from owners who ride through winter as to how the bike stands up to a British winter. I have always had Hondas before as the build quality is good but I love the look of the speed 4 and fancy a change. Other bike Iwas thinking of is a kwak Z750. Any advice would be welcome.

You will find the Triumph every bit as durable as a Honda. We have similar weather to the UK here in Seattle most winters, and my bike has done fine in three of them so far.

Speed four is a great winter bike!

If the injection is set right it has loads of torque in the 2-4k area so you can do slippery roads & the handling/brakes are just too good! I spent most of the winter enjoying twisty little somerset roads at an a=>B average speed of 40ish.

Then you hit a dry patch (on the road that is!!) & wahay!!!!!!!!13k
take care Jon

Almost 25k miles now, much of it in weather like this:

It holds up just fine. I did have a weird electrical glitch with the speedometer last year that started after a ride in very heavy rain, but it eventually went away and I wasn't able to figure out what went wrong.

I have 3 bikes and I ride all winter.......but during the really cold weather the Speed Four is the bike of choice.

It is VERY reliable in cold temps, starting on first try almost everytime.
The only time I had a slight starting issue was in single digit temps, the bike was sitting outside at work for 12 hours and I had to crandk it 2-3 times before it would start.
And it warms up fast, My Monster reads Low temp almost the entire way home ( 10 miles) the S4 registers a 160 almost within a mile!

But I know for a fact My Ducati Monster would not have started and the Harley I have I don't even take out when the temps are below 40!

But I find the S4 is great for cold wet weather riding!! If your winter temps are really cold teens and 20's I reccommend a lighter wt oil for the winter to help with starting.
