'00 TT 600 Stalling

Today I rode to work like normal but I was having issues along the way. I started my bike up and let it run for about 5 minutes and took off. Normally I let it run for about 10. Anyway, I get to the end of my street and pull the clutch it and shift down to first gear so I can be ready to turn after stopping for the stop sign. Engine dies. I thought it was just because the engine was cold but it happened to me every time I stopped or pulled my clutch in and let off the throttle.

The only other symptoms I have are the bike doesn't always start on the first try but that's been happening since I got it. I have a PCIII USB and supposedly the bike's ECU was flashed with Tuneboy (or it may possibly have been the Triumph fix map or maybe the '02 map, it was just what I was told by the PO). Only other mods are a K & N filter (honestly I haven't even checked this) and a Scorpian exhaust.

I'll probably run some Seafoam through it when I get home and try checking the air filter but do you guys have any other ideas?

I don't know if I'd expect it to be carbon buildup needing Seafoam, but a good cleaning never hurts I suppose. Does the bike stall as soon as you down shift, or when you let off the throttle all the way? Have you recently given the engine throttle immediately upon starting? If so, the throttle position could be bugged up, as this happens if you touch the throttle on startup. If this doesn't apply, I would double check your kick stand sensor to make sure it is not loose. You might check to see that your fuel tank vent tube and airbox lines are free from kinks. If that is not it I would suspect the TPS (throttle position sensor) might be loose or out of adjustment. Your issue has never happened to me, but those are what I would start looking into if it did.

I would also check your spark plugs. I had the same problem, changed the plugs and it was fine.

Err I meant run Seafoam through the gas tank. I ran Lukas injector cleaner instead though but I don't think it has helped. I don't touch the throttle when I start the bike up. It does, however, sometimes stall on me when I downshift. I don't think it's the kick stand sensor because it kind of sputters down and dies sometimes when it idles.

I'll read up on the TPS in my shop manual and I'll also read up on the idle air control valve. The coolant temp sensor has been replaced by the PO so I don't think that would be the cause of the problem although I had similar problems on my Camry when the CTS went bad.

First thing I'll do at this point is check the spark plugs and air filter.

Did it seem to run fine with the injector cleaner in it but then die again without it? Thats what mine was doing.

Nope, still stalling on me. I poured like half a bottle of that stuff in too. Have probably only put 30 miles on the bike after I put it in so there is a possibility that it just needs to run more through the injectors.

Try scanning for codes. I think i read somewhere that your throttlebodies may be out of sync also.

Just found out what mech. problems may be causing it:
Throttle bodies out of balance
IACV inop
Low fuel pressure
O2 sensor problem
Damaged, dirty, corroded ECM wiring connection
System not adapted correctly

I guess if it threw codes they would be stored so yeah I should check that out. I always forget about that since I never owned an OBD2 car before.

Try a completely fresh tank of gas, premium at that. My bike sat for almost 2 months after an accident and for the first couple days mine was giving me the same symptoms... Stalling after letting go of the throttle or any kind of down shifting. I let a fuel tank run through the system and I'm on tank number two now. No problems stalling. Give it a whirl, I would definitely check for codes as well because there might be something else wrong.

I've rode the bike over 1000 miles in the past month so I'm pretty sure it's not the gas. I've only put premium into it. I've also gone to different gas stations so I don't think it's been a particular place with bad gas.
