S4 engine install in TT600

Are these the same engines? or does everything need to be swapped over like the ECM, intake, rad. and harness?

Why not just drop it in and run it with the S4 cams and items? It's only a few horsepower different at best.

What other parts? i just dont want to have to buy the harness, ecm and intake since it will cost me a lot more...

I need a direct drop in motor!

The internals are the same, whats the difference between these engines really? are all the connections the same?

Edit: Everything internal about the engine specs out just the same, the only difference that i can see is the cams as already stated.
S4 In. lift=7.7mm VS. TT600 In. lift=9.0mm
S4 Ex. lift=7.8mm VS. TT600 Ex. lift=8.0mm

Dont quote me on this but, the motors are drop in. The speed 4 was tuned for midrange rather than the TT which was more top-end.

Ok well it looks like i will go with the S4 engine. I'm going to swap over the cams to keep her stock in the event i need to sell at some point. Although it might be easier to throw in a S4 ECM instead of swapping since i dont know the condition of my cams yet.

Any word on what i should replace while everything is out? like clutch disks, seals, and random stuff like that which will be easy to do while the engine is out?

Thanks for your help guys... I'm in Key West right now due to work but will be flying out next week, so pictures are to come when i get back home and look the bike over..

What year S4? Personally I think it would just be easier to get a new tune for the bike than swap out the cams.

Swaping the cams is not hard... although setting the timing might be an issue since i havnt done that before on bikes.

I dont see why i wouldnt be able to just keep the same tune, its not like the lobs are that much different, it will just shift the power band.

idono i will screw with it once i get a look at the bike later this week.

The tune is set to match the cams basically. If you keep the old tune, it might run terribly or backfire or run real lean at some rpms or real rich at other rpms.

Or it might run just fine. But probably not. (aka. difference between '00 TT600 tune and 02 TT600 tune)

i'm pretty certain that the plan is if his cams are OK, he will put them in the S4 motor and then use the TT600 ECM from his bike to match the cams. if the cams are not usable, then leave the S4 cams as is and use the S4 ECM. either way, no new tunes required.
