I recently took my first ever track school, CornerSpeed, at Virginia International Raceway, Daville, VA. I took my 2002 Speed Four (one of the few that made to the US before the factory fire). I had a blast and intend to do more track days. While, I am far from knee dragging, I thought the bike handled really great. As for top speed, I saw indicated at 135 mph (probably slower in reality). MCN's article said top speed is 138 mph. I hope these images turn out.

I especially like the picture with the guy who has numbers and slicks on his bike going around you on the outside! I sure know how that feels! Getting a knee down is more a matter of sliding off the inside of the seat than extreme lean. You are getting your bike over far enough to do it already! Have you ground a peg yet? That is a surprise the first time it happens, just like getting the first knee down. Your tires look like Avons in the picture. Is that right? How are they? The stock BT010s on a TT600 get pretty slippery when they get good and hot, but that can be kinda fun, too. As long as it doesn't get out of hand.
Great to see more Triumphs mixing it up on the track. You don't need the fastest bike on the track or to be the fastest rider on the track to have a whole lot of fun at a track day!

Yeah, #58 blew by me shortly after that corner. I think he was a license racer who let his license expire and needed the class to get it back.
Avons? Yes indeed. AV39 and 40 to be exact. I picked those up inexpensively to use for the track. I didn't care a lot for the OEM BT010 since I like more of a mileage tire for the street. I have found the AV45 and 46 are my preference for the street even if they are intended for sport touring. IMHO, it's hard to over ride any tire on the street given the ever changing variables that come into play.
The track is fantastic not having to worry about road condtions, traffic, and a host of other potential hazzards. I will continue to attend to improve my skills and try to get my ass out of the seat more. Hell, for a fat bastard at 240lbs, I think I did OK!
