Daytona 600 Ignition

Hey everyone I had a question about my 2004 Daytona 600 ignition. I recently was in a wreck and am needing to replace the ignition. My buddy and I were looking at it and there doesn't appear to be any screws or anything to remove the ignition from its place in the trees...

I was wondering if anyone knows how you would go about getting the ignition off and replacing it...Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

There are a special kind of nut holding it on underneath the top triple. You have to remove the front fairing, the clocks, and probably the forks at a minimum to get at it. You may even have to pull off the top triple. It is a job I haven't done, but I looked at removing the lock from a race bike once and decided it wasn't worth the effort.

as long as it isn't locked, you can pull the top clamp off easier than doing all the other stuff will mentioned. Just pull your clipons and loosen the restraining clamps on either ear. Then loosen the middle nut from the steering head and it'll slide right off.

you can get some needle nosed vise grips on those little nubs on the keyway, just pinch them and loosen them up. Mine were not tight at all, so the job was pretty easy.

I replaced mine with allens from the hardware store. ($.20 each)

I'd take a picture, but none of my stuff is the stock stuff anymore.

Looking down at your bike, you need to remove the Left and Right Clipon Assemblies. Once those are removed, you need to loosen the pinch bolts on the left and right fork tube. Once those are loosened, you need to remove the top center nut that holds the triple clamp to the bike. It should slide off with very little effort, exposing the dirty underside of your top triple clamp, complete with key assembly with retaining screws on either side.
