Springs/shock

-has anyone managed to track down a set of springs for the TT and S4? I am too heavy for the factory set up. I have heard Race Tech offers them, but would like some feedback from a 200lb plus rider using them before i purchase. Also other than ohlins, who makes a rear shock that can be rebuilt, from the high preload, my factory one has thrown in the towel...

and it has been awhile since i posted here, i have been out working, but i'm home now and ready to ride!!

thanks in advance

Joe

Bitubo have a read shock for TT600/S4 if i remember correctly. They're of very high quality, and a bit cheaper than Öhlins

no one huh?
when i first got the bike, it was agile, and had clean, crisp handling. 6yrs later, it needs a little help.
since the preload was so tight on the rear, the shock did not have its full range of motion, so it has worn quickly, dealer says the factory shock has a tendancy to not wear evenly, bulges in the center, and is not rebuildable.
There has to be something more practical than ohlins, and more "bang for your buck" than the factory shock.
As far as the springs go, Race Tech has some TT progressives, but no linear for my Baby Speed. I think i am just going to bite the bullet and order a custom set from Works Connection and a revalve, but i just cant stomach the ohlins sticker price..i'll keep you guys informed on what i figure out

Hagon shock?

I think they do one for the TT. Never had one on the TT but had one on my ZZR600 and are very good.

TT springs will fit. I just ordered Wilbers linear fork springs for my bike.

Rebuild

There is a shop here in Western North Carolina that does rebuilds and suspension work if you have considered that and everyone that has used it has been very happy with the work they do but I don't know what kind of turn around they have but if intrested just email me and I will send you the info on it.

I am about 220 and I went with Hyper pro setup for the springs. They improved the handling greatly and I was able to setup the sag. They actually work like hyper pro states as they are not rated and the progressive nature of the springs is not a 'normal' progressiove rate.

I have not taken to the track but I may do it this year. I have a zx7 for the track so I may never do it.

try Penske for the rear shock - many racers swear by them. i have one i picked up from a board member some time ago and what a difference. FuryFour may even still have his used Penske for sale. you may have to get a new spring, or you might get lucky.

I had a Hagon on my TT600 and liked it a lot. The 675 has an Elka and the Gixxer has a Penske. All of them are an improvement over a stock shock. They better be for what they cost!
