D650 won't start after fall.

Well, It's not a matter of if but when. Nearly three years after riding my D650 home I dropped it. Stand wasn't all the way down when I got off her in the garage and down she went. Luckily I was able to slow her decent and there is no damage.

I got her righted within a couple of minutes but she will not start. Check Engine light comes on and nothing happens when I hit the starter button.

I let her sit upright about an hour and tried again, but same thing happens.
Any suggestions? Is this a safety mechanism or something?

make sure you don't have oil in your airbox before you start the bike! i know it's a pain, but it is well worth it to remove the tank and open up the airbox and check for oil as opposed to the alternative of damaging your motor.

the only things that i can think of that would prevent the bike from turning over are the obvious ones - clutch not pulled in, side stand down in gear and less obvious is the tip over sensor getting stuck. you may want to try agitating the tip over sensor - i'm hoping this is the cause of your check engine light as well. hth

Check the clutch engagement switch this can get a little tempremental, might need a wiggle.

Did you knock the Kill switch when you picked it up

On some bikes (not sure about TT or S4), after a fall you have to turn the key off then back on to start.

More info

A little more info:

I have reset the Fall Detection Switch per the service manual instructions. But seems not to have done anything.

With the bike off, kick stand up, in Neutral, Kill switch on:
Turn the Key and immediatly the amber check engine light turns on, electronics post and about two seconds later the red Oil Pressure light comes on. LCD says LO and oil symbol is flashing.

Don't have time tonight to disassemble and check the airbox, so I'm not going to try to turn it over until I can get that done. I had just ridden 50 mile and filled up the tank.

Thanks all for input.

Back Running!

OK. Well went out tonight to give it a go again hoping it fixed itself yesterday night. No joy! :/ Still comes up with the check engine light.

Drained the tank and checked the airbox. No oil so that is good. Ended up removing the fall detection switch and giving it a good wiggle. Put it back in place and all seems to be sorted out. She started right up. So I guess the culprit was the fall deteciton switch not getting reset properly.

Thanks to all for your input.
