Tail Bag recommendations?

I bought a Tour Master Cortech tailbag that mounts to the bike with four bungee cords. The front cords can attach to the passenger footpeg brackets, but the only thing to attach the rear cords to is the edge of the license plate frame, which leaves the hooks resting against the painted plastic, which is no good. I could attach the rear cords to each other, but I am not sure how much that would allow the bag to shift side to side.

All that to say, does anyone have a tailbag that mounts easily to the S4/TT? Should I skip straight to saddle bags? I am just looking for something to carry the overflow from my tankbag. Regardless of which bag I get, I would like it to work well with a set of saddlebags, as I will probably add those in the near future as well.

I have the same bag that you do & have not used it yet.

I don't have one of these yet, but I like it: http://shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycle/N1370?

That's pretty pricey, for $30 more you can get the triumph branded sport bags which look like they'd hold more.

What specific sport bags are you referencing?

The panniers that they have for the Daytona 650, they are 190usd not 160 like I was thinking. I see no reason why they wouldn't fit the S4 or tt600 as it appears they are adjustable strap design......

Perhaps you are talking about these: http://store.motorcyclegearshops.com/a9518011-sf.html
MSRP=$260USD, & other than the obvious of not being a tailbag, they are significantly more expensive...

No, these, which look like they'd hold a bit more than the S4 specific ones: http://store.motorcyclegearshops.com/a9518024.html I don't see why they wouldn't work on a S4/TT6

Aside from losing clearance for lane splitting (not applicable outside of CA) what advantage would a tailbag serve over panniers other than raising the COG in the undesirable direction?

I think it's a function of how much stuff one wants to carry. My Speedmaster has hardbags. I wouldn't want saddlebags on my S4, although I am considering a Rentec or Triumph rear rack for the S4.

Not necessarily ideal for you guys located in US, but this is the kind of set I have for my S4.
Works fine since i ride alone and have the seat cowl on.
