Tune ECU help

I know there is a crap load of posts on these. However biggest issues I have ran across is people finding out where to get the cables to use that are legit.

Pretty much don't chance buying off amazon or ebay.. got it....

where can I get a good quality cable?

second part is do I need anything else other than downloading the tune onto my laptop and use it to check things?

Currently have a check engine light on, not surprising as my D600 isn't in stock form, its a dedicated hooligan track toy. So no lights are plugged in, or even on the bike. But want to make sure everything is good to go for an upcoming track day early March.

would greatly appreciate any tips, hints, WAG's that the collective group can spare..

Thanks

KK

Last night i was trying see why my fan isn't coming on, bike got up to temp fine but the fan never came on. It spins freely by hand and plan to investigate a bit more tonight.
Wait till you gt the TuneEXU cable. then once connected to tune ECU you will be able to set the temp the fan is set to (under MAP Edit / Parameters)

With Tune ECU you can also test if the Fan is operating correctly (under TESTS / Test-Adjustments - Cooling fan) you just double click and your fans should run. if not check the fuse then the relay..

With tuneecu not showing a map number just means your running the orginal map. It is worth while updating it to the lastest one. With the error codes try clearing them out first. If they come back we can deal with them 1 by 1.

Fan...
Have you checked the fuse?
You could try swapping the relay out for a new one of the same type from a auto parts store

Will check the fuse this afternoon to the fan, it does spin freely by hand so its not in a bind or locked up.

I did clear the codes and left well enough alone till I had a chance to make sure all was well without a map being shown like others i have seen.

I was all excited that it connected and then didnt want to fiddle with anything till I got familar with the software.

Thank you for all the help.

This grease is die-electric grease it assists the prevention of corrosion in the connector leave it in there.

That is great new that the fan works. So next is to test the relay..

We are getting closer.. :)

oK do you have a test light???

I hear the relay clicking for fan but its not coming on either
Now we will need to test the relay.

1. disconnect the fan relay from ts socket. With the test light place it against relay pin # 30 this will show if the relay is receiving power first of all (ignition will need to be on).

Is there power present??
NO - fuse
YES - Continue to # 2

2. bring the bike to temp when the fan is due to turn on. With the test light place it against relay pin #87
** TIP with TuneEcu lower the fan temp. **

Is there power present??
NO - change relay
YES - Continue to # 3

3. Run the same test as #2 but place the test light to the fan connector positive plug is power reaching it..??

By this stage you should know if power is reaching the fan..

for your connection - (I hope this help draw the picture)

Pin 85 - ground/Earth
Pin 86 - Temp sensor
Pin 87 - Power to Fan
Pin 30 - power to Relay (from battery viA FUSE)

good luck

Awesome tips and help... thank you

Will check the plug to see if its getting power to the #30 and also if its sending to #87

With bike running and temp lowered.

I did take the cover off the relay and the contacts were all crusted over and nasty, so i will need a new relay. The one i pulled off was a Hella brand relay.

Quick update..

Fan is up and running, comes on at exactly 103°c

Spent 30 minutes fighting airbox after checking all hoses and connectors.

Tune ecu connected, walked through the steps to save map, upload new and let it adapt.

MAP sensor error cleared itself, and running so much smoother now. Wanted to ride it but its not street legal (track duty) Will haul it to a private runway in my company in the next couple weeks to test.

Want to sync injection as one is a hair lower than the others.

Thanks again Andrew, triumphs are certainly a different animal than the Japanese bikes i am use to.

Tune ecu is a great tool.
