Oh, the shame!

I did a bad thing today. Very bad.
Decided to go for an afternoon ride since the roads finally dried. Said "what the h*ll I'll take the TT". But to do that I first had to move the Sprit out of the way (can you see where this is going?) so the Sprint goes out on the driveway to clear path for theT. So far so good.

Now the T goes out to the edge of driveway (bad) and waits patiently while I push the Sprint back into the garage. Apperantly It didn't want to stay home so it gave the T a little nudge making it roll forward off the kickstand.

Using my super human speed I managed to get the sprint back on Its kickstand and catch the T halfway down. Unfortunately I grabbed the seat cover which proceeded to break and let the T down on its left, almost got it to fall into the grass, almost. The stator cover and the edge of the plastic above the cover got scratched. And while tring to stop the fall the T reached out w/ its little motorcycle tag and grabbed my leg. I now an short 1 pair of Levis and have a very deep scratch (not deep enough to call it a cut) running down the length of my thigh. It hurts real bad .

Now for the adding insult to injury, literally. As I pick up the T he smacks big brother on the left handle bar. Yep you guessed it. The Sprint started to fall over on its right side. So I'm standing there having to pick up one of my prized possessions (seriously) while watching my other prized possession falls over and NO WAY TO STOP IT! Oh the pain! I almost cried.

Luckily my wife parked MY truck too close to the garage and the Sprint fell against it and stopped. The mirror stopped the fall (didn't think they were that strong). The mirror feels a little loose where it pivots so I'll be taking it apart later to see whats up. Other than that no damage. That settles it I'm ordering those crash bung things from R&G first thing Monday! And I'm never parking my toys on the driveway again.

Yes the driveway does go downhill, but I 've done this same manuver a million times, just never made contact before. I felt so bad the T just got a bath and tucked in for the night, and I'll be stating on the Sprint soon.
Well that my story of whoa, let the flaming being.

OH, THE SHAME!

Oh man. I'm glad that's now all behind you! Probably saved you from getting killed or something. The bike can be fixed. Be happy it wasn't worse.

Hey mate, I have done similar things! I know that I felt the same when I lost my footing on the Sprint and bang, over she goes in the garage!

Really though, I know you scratched your pride and joy(s) and you scratched yourself but your story does sound kinda funny, I mean, a real Laurel & Hardy episode!

Sorry mate, I had to chuckle, just a bit, maybe its the way you told the story...

Cheers,

Roden

To me the logical solution would be build a separate garage for your bikes. Each bike with it's own bay and door. Yeah, that's the answer. Seriously, sounds like you had a rough go.

Thanks for the support guys.

The best part of this entire ordeal is that I received the most damage, and I'll heal on my own.

The T now sports a little white eyebrow over the stator a few nicks in the cover itself and a damaged seat cowl. I'm working on that now w/ fiberglass matte and resin. Luckily it was the two tabs on the sude that hook under the seat that broke.

The Sprint not one single mark on it.

So they both got baths Saturday then rode on Sunday, now need to be washed again.
A never ending battle!

Oh well time to get back out in the garage.

Later guys,
kubbie

Learned in my MSF course...always park the bike in gear! Just another reason that the class is well worth the money. Im sorry about all the damage, but I bet you wish you got it on tape!! It would have been a blast to see on youtube, lol!!

Motoziggy

the sad part is Normally when parked on the driveway they face uphill, cuz I just got home and waiting on the door to open.

To be honest I never leave them in gear due to my brothers leaving my old KZ in gear and it rolling off the kickstand and falling over on me when trying to kickstart it because the e-start never worked.

And w/ 19 years riding first time this has ever happened to me and the first time something other than the tires on either bike has touched the ground. At least I'm not part of the first 6 month club!
