Sprocket and Chain Question

Hey All.... how's it going? I have just ordered myself a Vortex 44-tooth rear sprocket. I am currently running stock 14/42 and wanted some more oomph off the line and also get the chain off the swingarm... is the stock chain long enough to fit the 44-tooth sprocket or do I need a longer chain??? A friend of mine told me I was good cause the increase of two teeth wasnt much of a change to need a longer chain, but I just like to run it by y'all cause you guys have done it already and have the first hand knowledge.... thanks all for the responses.....

It would probably be tight, even with axle fully forward. How many miles are on the current chain?

3500 miles on current chain..... if stock chain isnt recommended then what would be the recommended chain length... i think stock is 120 links......

I believe the stock chain is 106 links, the replacement chain comes with 120 links and you cut it down to size. I just came from picking my parts - 14t front, 45t rear and 120 link RK 525GXW chain. Not looking forward to cutting the linkless stock chain off though.

14/44 should work with the stock length chain.

Stock length on 14/42 bikes is 106
Stock length on 15/45 bikes is 108
