Speed 4 Throttle sticking.... help

I had left my bike in the shed for 5 months over the winter and when i took it out the other day I found that the throttle was sticking open. It doesnt seem to happen when it is cold but when it warms up and i give it some revs the throttle itself still closes but the bike continues to rev. I found that if i open the throttle and let go so it snaps back then it usually frees it up. Usually after snapping it shut it seams a bit sticky to open up again (as in it sticks shut then pops free). I took it for a short spin hoping it would free itself up but still having problems with it...

The cable is free but i gave it all a good oil...

any advice...

It doesn't take much throttle to have the bike scream to redline if the cable is binding. Does it happen in any bar position or only when turned to the right? Is the cable routing OK? How about the cable length threaded adjuster...that can separate if the cable is stretched.

Definitely check the items B02S4 mentioned. You may need to lube the cable, which isn't too hard. You just need to take out the screws from the housing, unwrap the cable from the throttle tube, and lube it.

I'm a cyclist, so I use Tri-Flow for my cables. It drips out, instead of spraying, so I just let some drip onto the cable, work it up and down a few times to get it into the housing, rinse, repeat until I get bored.

They also make little doodads that you clamp over the cable and stick the little red tube on a spray lube into, but I've never tried those

I dont think it is a problem with the cable, it seems to be free and i can see it is opening and closing when i move the throttle (im not sure what it is called but where the cable is connected under the fuel tank moves freely).

Unfortunately i cant try anything just now as i had to leave the bike at my parents house. I would just like to have some ideas to try when I go back to collect it.

Thanks

Did the throttle get bumped? I tweaked my throttle when I smacked the grip into the side of my shed. I had to replace the throttle guide (plastic) to smooth things out. Just a thought.
