Hullo & Daytona 600 question

Afternoon all.

Just joined the site after picking up my gorgeous 04 Daytona 600 yesterday

Does anyone know if they're prone to running quite hot as my temp gauge seems to increase quite rapidly in slow moving traffic or when stationary???

I did wonder whether to post this in the Daytona section but it only says 900s and upwards

Cheers

Jonny

Jonny, welcome to the forum! There is an area of the forum called Triumph SuperSports that may be a good place to get technical questions answered.

Until others who actually know what they're talking about answer your question, I'll simply offer that running hotter than most has been commented on in the reviews of the bike. Heat rising from the exhaust and engine in slow traffic or when idling can draw your attention to that in a hurry also.

Well my TT600 runs really hot even this time of year, but it's a trait and never boils up.
Read the manual and see what maximum the temp will hit before "Hi" appears, on the TT she'll run at 215 f all day, "hi" temp warning is at 248 f according to manual.

Yeah the Triumph 600 4-cylinders all run pretty hot. As long as the fan is kicking on and the temperature stabilizes, it's nothing to worry about.

Most people here run their temp gauges in Fahrenheit, but I never switched mine off Celsius. On the Speedy Four, in Celsius, the fan kicks on at 105, and the bike will eventually get that hot if I'm sitting still. Riding, I'm usually in the 90's on a warm day, or the 80's if it's cooler out. Folks smarter than me can probably convert that to Fahrenheit.

Welcome to the site, and enjoy your new bike!

When it's hot and I'm moving in slow traffic, the temp will go up to 220+. But will drop right back down as soon as I get some air flowing. No problems with the temperature. Now nails in the rear tire are another thing entirely (pun). Congrats on the D600, they're great bikes, and I really like my D650.

Jonny,

Welcome. You'll find knowledgable folk and great information here, plus the occassional wacko. All-in-all, a great place to visit. (Thank heavens it only exists in Cyberspace, or we'd all be confined to rooms with padded walls.)

Just a heads up to all the Dayto supersport riders.

I just got the 12K service done on my D650, and the tech mentioned that there were a HUGH amount of bees (primarily) and other winged insects in the air box. He suggested I put a screen barrier somewhere between the front nose intake and the air box. I'll be doing that this week end. With the bees out and the throttle bodies synced, the throttle response is so much smoother now, and really helps on the technical bits of road.

The teeth didn't cut down on the D650's insatiable appetite for bugs.

Sorry its a few weeks late but I've only registered today - so Hello ...

The bike is fine when it's moving but in traffic it heats up very quickly. As long as the fan kicks in at about 103/104 then thats the norm.
It may be worth checking your radiator, it might just need a good clean
