Well I ponied up and got the carbon look hugger. Somehow my dealer even managed to find they still made one, which shouldn't be as shocking as it sounds.
Anyhow I was looking over the directions and parts and decided to ask the forum guys who have done this.
Any tricks? Tips?
Do you have to remove the Tire/Wheel? It says no then poof the wheel is gone in the instructions.
That part of the bracket is a b!tch to install, makes the rub strip wear faster, and doesn't seem necessary. I cut that part of the bracket off when I replaced the rubbing strip.
1. Their engineering is piss poor at best as instead of under the rubbing strip they have an unused screw boss on both sides of the swing arm to use, apparently smarts doesn't come into English engineering.
2. The rear most brake clamp bracket to mount to the hugger only 1 hole was drilled the other they barely machined more than 0.015". I had to hand finish the hole.
3. Both the above holes for the rear brake clamp to hugger mount where in the wrong spot! Are you kidding me? Glad I checked this BEFORE hand drilling their factory screw up.
4. The trim plate for the screws to mount through the new chain guard was improperly machined as well. Not only are the holes way out of whack, but they did not machine enough to properly fit the the hugger so until I personally hand fit this piece you can see the 2 screws.
Any one have a way to contact Triumph USA's support? I'd really like to begin reaming them out for such a terrible design, lack of machine knowledge, and best of all horrible pricing on improperly made parts.
Bad luck. My hugger came on the bike so I am absolutely, positively no help. The legacy continues.
