NEED Help taking my tt 600 apart

I was taking apart my 2000 tt 600 tonight. I want to clean it and change the air filter. I am a noob when it comes to taking motorcycles apart. What is the best way to disconnect the fuel line from the gas tank without getting fuel all over.

Also when I took the left side fairing off. There were four hoses just hanging there is that normal?

All of your help would be greatly appreciated

Do it on an empty tank anyway you get it off, it will spill a litte bit of gas, but if your quick it shouldn't make a mess.

As for the hoses, im assuming they are long and thin, running from what would appear to be just under the gas tank, correct? if so thats just your coolant and airbox run-off hoses, and the gas tanks spill tube. these should be held close to the engine body, just in front of the shifter i think.

Simply push in the metal tags on the connectors and release them. You'll have a little fuel spillage while you do this, but (in theory) the tags spring back and stop fuel leaking out.

On my S4 this was successful the first time I removed the tank but the second time it leaked slowly ... into the boot of my car. Grr. So best advice as BBDGriptonia says is to do it with a pretty-much empty tank.

Be sure you make a note of which fuel hose connects to which connector ... occasionally they get it the wrong way around. The hose that comes from the left side of the fuel rail gets connected to the red connector.

Be careful, if the fuel line fittings are white plastic they'll break if you look at 'em funny.
