So im playing around with some color combinations on a spare faring that i have..... and a question arises as i play. Shold i color/wet sand inbetween coats or inbetween colors... or just before clearcoat and then wet sand after clear coat

also for prep should I hand sand everything or would a bead blaster be safe to use with the abs plastic?

does anyone know the percentages for paint/thinner/flex/cure??

I want to have all my bases covered before i show up to the spray booth....

I'd ask an auto paint store for their opinions and follow the advice. Bead blasting would mar the surface of your bike. Sanding is the better choice. It's been 25 years since I worked at a body shop, so most of the little I can remember is bunk.

are you an experienced painter or are you looking to get started? if you've got car experience, then it all translates to bikes - just remember that most parts are plastic or fiberglass. i finally got my act together and learned how to paint within the last year. while it has been a very rewarding experience, it has also been an expensive investment. your question about the wet sanding would depend on what type of paint you are using. with most modern paint systems, the actual painting and clearcoat stages are about 5% of the work - the remainder is in the prep. attention to detail is the key in the prep work, then spray the recommended coats of paint and clear (generally more clear than recommended actually) and that's it.
