Suggest you go to a dealer and have them read the error code (they should do it for free). I had the same problem; the error code was "high voltage" which puzzled everyone. One day it the light shut off. Go figure. Your problem could be something more significant however.

HAHAHAHAHAHA do it for free? What planet is that? I was quoted $40 to turn the light off, and $80 to see what error code it was. This was from Brea, CA Triumph, supposedly a shop with a good rep.

So anyways, run the bike at least 100+ miles and see if that will reset it. If not, you will eventually have to take it to a shop and attach it to the Triumph devil machine. I just had the same problem. Engine check light came on and the bike ran fine. D650 BTW. I ran it through 3 heat cycles, and it didn't reset. I went to my local mechanic who does the servicing of my two Triumphs, I don't have a Triumph shop within 130 miles of where I live, and bitched about the stupid light. That's where I got the info on the 100+ mile, from the tech who once worked for a Triumph shop. So I go up the road a bit to return a game to GameStop and when I go out and turn the bike back on, the engine check light is not on anymore. SWEET! So my advice would be to go to a MC shop and bitch about your engine check light, and then after one more start/shut down cycle, the light will go off.

actually through this forum...i'd have to look again but it was in the sprint forum...i got the info about the 3x cycle, which reset the light which more than likely came on due to an under voltage. so it's reset and all is well. thanks for all the advice.

see iif your local car garage has a universal obdII reader or you can get them for around £50 and read and clear the codes. a guy at my work just bought one so i tried it on the bike with the temp sensor disconected and it picked up and cleared the code. triumphs use ISO9141 protocol so it dosent have to be the latest can type

Better yet, get a Tuneboy cable and unlock code and be done with dealerships. It can read the codes and a whole lot more other things the Triumph tool can't do. Is it possible you removed your tank and didn't get the fittings completely back together when you reinstalled it?
