Changing the oil sometimes help, but I think it is a fairly common to have clunky gears on the TT.

Some more detail into what you mean by "clunky gears" would probably help. It is hard for me to say whether or not the TT600s have this issue, as I have never owned a newer Asian bike to compare with.

I can give you suggestions for doing some investigative work: check the clutch lever free-play to make sure it's within spec. Check the clutch lifter arm assembly on the right side engine cover to make sure everything looks good there. Check the clutch cable in general to insure it is functioning smoothly. Check the shifter lever. You might also check the chain, as extra load might make a difference.

As for me, I up-shift without using the clutch, and I have had no problems with rough or noisy shifts, except from 1st to 2nd which is torquey and I usually use the clutch here. Good luck hunting the problem down.

Was the shifting bad before the oil change? What weight/brand oil did they use?

If there's too much oil it will result in clunky shifting, so it's worth checking the oil level (bike vertical, screw the dipstick in all the way, probably the most annoying way to check oil ever).

The other likely culprit is the clutch cable - make sure there's not too much slack in it. It may not be disengaging all the way when you pull it in. There should be 2-3mm of play at the lever before it starts to pull the clutch. I don't remember offhand if the stock clutch lever is adjustable for reach (I have Pazzo's), but if it is, and you have the lever adjusted ofr short reach, try putting it out to the farthest position and see if it improves the situation.

If it's a simple problem like those mentioned above, usually going from neutral to first or first to second will be the worst.

edit: It looks like Bombfactory covered the clutch adjustment angle while I was typing. :P One thing I forgot to mention: some people find it helpful to move the shifter down a notch or to on the splines. This makes it easier to upshift positively, bringing the shifter firmly all the way up.
