ok so heres my new problem.. and its intermittent but a pain in the 4ss. So today I rode the bike home (15miles) got her nice and hot (102C) went to get gas turned her off filled up and went to turn her on no go. she just wouldnt start wouldnt prime wouldnt do anything.... ummmmm turn signals worked lights worked.... it was like the finger switch was bad.... I have also noticed the sometimes (very very rare) when i start her then lift her to the full upright position (i.e. go from left faced forks (side stand) to straight forks) she will cut off... but starts right up normally after that... also after reading some previous posts when you drop the side stand with the bike running she should tun off???? could that be a problem because mine runs fine on the side stand... im confused and electricity is not my cup o' tea.

I was recommended to spray some WD40/white lithium into the "kill" switch.... whats the easiest way for this.

if the bike is in gear the sidestand will shut it off but yes it will run fine in neutral on the side stand. If you can put the stand down while in gear and it stays running then there is a problem

Not sure what to tell you about the switch not doing anything though gl

The sidestand switch is actually pretty simple - some people jumper it (use a wire to permanently activate it) for track bikes and such.

ok so after some hunting the right hand kill switch appears to be the problem... there is a "10(or so) pack of wires" that run from the kill switch to the right hand fairing... when ever I prime the bike and lift the wire it re-primes the bike... I can do this repeatedly... now Im really confused... should I replace the switch... can you pull apart the switch and take it down to the internals... can I remove the switch and hard wire it always on... looking at old (2004) post it looks like triumph recommends leaving the kill switch in the always on position... so why even have it...

augh.... this is upsetting

I've used my kill switch once or twice, don't see a lot of purpose in it,, but it is considered a safety measure. They've been required for a long time now, so there must be some use to them.

Most likely the wiring problem is at one end or the other, not in the middle of the bunch of wires. It's not hard to take the plastic shell off. It's probably worth it to do that, hit the whole thing with contact cleaner, and make sure there aren't any loose connections. If there are, problem solved.

So as I trace out the wires I come across a bulge on one side of the socket and I think to myself why does this not look right so I pull off the tape and..... WOW
to my amazement this is a previous owners attempt at something

and heres a quick question...
what are these wires in the center for they go from the front brake to the kill switch?

one of mine was disconnected so I reconnected it hope they are both supposed to be connected...
