GRRR!

I tried to do some preventative maintenance on my bike and now need to buy a new muffler can. The 3 bolts holding the can on kept working their way out, so I tried to pull them out and was going to put some lock tight on them. Well one came off fine, put the lock tight on it and put it back in, but the other two got half way out and then just started spinning. The I tried to take out the one I had done previously, and that did the same.

I wound up taking a dremmel and cutting the bults. So now i have a beautiful carbon fiber can that has no threads on the end. My guess is that there was some nuts spot welded to the back side, and the welds broke loose.

I jumped on ebay and bough a beat up stock can as a buy it now, and a few days later won a used yoshimura rs-3.

Thought I would share the story.

you can probably buy a tap and die set and either clean up the threads on your cf or create newer larger ones. That or bring it to a machine shop and they can do it.

Bummer. Was it the Triumph carbon can that you had the problems with?

It was the Triumph Carbon can that i ran into trouble with. I am going to see if i can't retap the screw holes. and then either put the rs-3 can back on ebay or the fixed triumph one.
