This may have been posted already, but I could not readily find it, so here goes...
Hello. Very cool site. New member here....so be gentle.
My wife's 2002 TT600 is having issues starting all of a sudden, & is idling somewhat rough. The check engine light was on for a day or so, but now has shut itseld off.

Bike has 29,000 miles on it, we have only had it a month or so, & just receive a custom Hot Pink paint job.

Anyone have any suggestons???

HELP!! :???: :???:

Hot pink you say?

I think I may have found the problem.

Seriously, mine did the same thing briefly and I think it was crappy gas or water in the tank or something like that. I also changed the spark plugs which greatly helped the overall running condition.

You may want to check the air pump for leaks, and or operation, any hoses off the throttle body assy's and that your airbox is properly secured.

The check engine light has a self-check sequence where it basically shuts itself off if all is well after 2 or 3 heat cycles.

If the motor has 29k, you may want to check the valve tolerances.

Since you'll be pulling the tank to check those things, the other check would be to take a look at the air filter & inside of the airbox. I beleive the CCV can shoot oil into the airbox in certain circumstances. That would lead to problems running/starting.

Once the tank and airbox are off, check the IAC valve for problems. It looks like an untidy spider or something on top of the transmission toward the left side of the bike. If any of the vacuum hoses attached to it are disconnected or damaged, or if it has any gaps in the molding seam around its body, you just found your problem.

Thanks for all the help. I will tear into it again this weekend, as it is sure to rain on a holiday weekend, so that will keep us off the lake & in the garage.

And yes.... I said Hot Pink, with silver metal flake & silver powdercoated frame. I'll post some pics soon.

That's awesome! Now your wife needs to go humiliate some squids on their CBSXRR's!!! :-D :-D :hammer:
(CBR,GSXR,ZX-R - feel free to humiliate Yamaha riders too though!)

I can't wait to see pics!

(if I was even slightly fast, I would absolutely paint my bike pink just for the entertainment factor. If I ever get rich, I'm going to build a pink VW New Beetle with a worked 1.8T engine and go looking for races with Mustangs and Camaros )

I have about $300 in materials, & a friend from my church painted it in his garage one weekend.
We had to repaint the nose piece, due to a tiny amount of water that crept it's way past the filters.
The nose is getting painted this week, but the bike is totally together, Michelin Pilots remounted on the pink rims, & some new flush-mounts up front for the signals. Custom silver Triumph stickers on the tank & lower fairing. I decided to forego the large TT sticker.
Pics will be posted as soon as I get the nose piece back on.
I am wanting to find a used rear seat cowl for this if anyone knows of one.
