Hi everyone,
I'm new to street riding and bought a 00 TT600. So far I love the bike, but I want to be able to keep enjoying it. I would like to know what maint. I should be doing to it for the bike to last and run properly. It has 9,300 miles on it.

iirc the valve adjustment should have been done at 8k so if you dont have record of that, you may want to have it done. The chain on these bikes gets worn quickly because of the pad (forget the name) but there are some posts about taking care of that. Even if you don't do it make sure to lube that chain a lot.
Of course do the typical stuff like routine oil changes with the recommended oil, coolant flush at recommended intervals (these bikes run at high temps), and again lube your chain every few hundred miles at least..

Do you know the person you bought it from and did you get service records?

If not, take it in for an oil change (every 3000, according to my dealer). They did a minor service and gave things a once-over when I brought it in. They ended up installing new rear brake pads and tightening up some loose bolts. Do that now since you're at 9k. Mine ended up being about $300.

Change the oil yourself- it is easy to do and a whole lot cheaper than taking it somewhere. Chances are the valves are in spec, but getting them checked is worth the price. Also, make sure the throttle bodies are synchronized and the CO is set properly. If you have low end problems, get the 2002 on map loaded. The dealer will look at you like you are nuts, but it is the best map for pretty much all TT600s. If you have an aftermarket pipe, send a PM to Craig (clutchNthrottle) and get his famous map. It works well as long as you run your bike hard periodically to blow out the carbon.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.
