I recently picked up a 00' tt 600 I have noticed the exhaust smells when driving at low speeds or around town. Is this normal? I know the mapping on the tt needs work is this one of the problems getting it remapped will fix. Also I have noticed a little noise like a slight ting or rattle or something when i am accelerating and shifting threw the gears but i do not notice it at any other time. I t almost sounds like the exhaust. Is this also normal? One more question at what rpm should i be shifting at. I seem to be having a hard time adjusting to this bike it is a lot different than my 99 ninja. So i was wondering what rpm range i should be shifting at through the gears. I almost wonder if the tac is off. Thanks

Erm - what does the exhaust smell like? It could have a power commander or other problem that has it running really rich, or a million other things...

Have you refilled the tank? Race fuel has a peculiar odor.

Wierd. I'd usually associate that with running pig-rich, but I can't think of anything that would cause that offhand. Definitely pull the tank - check that the airbox is *****-free and the air-filter is in good shape. Also check the fuel lines - a fitting may be damaged, so you might actually be smelling leaked fuel. That would be a Bad Thing(tm).
