Alright, I have a lady friend that has found a deal on a used S4. She would love to git it, but said it would just have to be lowered if she did. So do any of you fellers know of a lowering kit fer the S4? Just wondering if there is a readily available kit. I reckon I could always git one made, but would like to know if there is one available now. Many thanks my fellow bugeye friends. :-D

I just lowered my wifes new S4 2 inches. The front is easy by dropping the fork tubes in the tripples. The rear I just adjusted the shock. Dropped a full 2 inches. I am going to carve out some of the seat today. You can lower these bikes for free, Don't waste your money on a kit. The only thing I see as an issue is the ***** oil drain plug. It hangs down so far. I assume to clear the fairings on the TT600. I'm going to look into shaving it down and re-tapping it for the plug.

thanks for the replies people. Fury, I have contacted Great Bay, but I will tell her that the rear shock can lower the bike enough itself. And many thanks on the heads up about the drain plug! :hammer: That sounds like an accident waiting to happen! :hammer:

Hey Limey -

How did you lower the rear? Is there a height adjustment or did you take out preload?

If preload, it's really not an ideal way to lower the bike - 2+ inches of sag is waaaay too much for good suspension performance (and safety!)

using the shock to lower it disturbs handling alot technically.

You may want to check out this thread for a discussion on lowering drag links.

I just backed off the preload on the spring. My wife weighs 100 lbs soaking wet. She doesn't even move the shock when she sits on the bike. I agree normally this wouldn't be the best way to go, but it worked. BTW, does anyone know where I can get shorter tubes, and if I will need to get shorter internals if I do? Thanks
