Hello all, how goes it?

Alright, I'm all squared away on the bike (almost, have the sidestand switch on order and a new flasher relay), but this issue has been bothering me.

The seat is loose. By that, I mean it is latched in the rear of the bike, but the nose of it can be moved a quarter of an inch or so, creating a rattling as it hits the lip of the gastank retainer.

If that made sense.

Is there a rubber bushing or other piece that should go there? If so, I don't see it on any of the diagrams I've looked at (from bikebandit).

Thank you!

How about if the next time someone has their seat off, they can look at where the front portion of the seat slips underneath the gas tank and see if there's any sort of rubber piece on the gas tank portion, acting as a bushing and let me know if there's something there....

Doc,
I just went down and took a look on mine, and there doesn't appear to be any bushings, ect; just a squared-off metal bracket. I do remember the first few times I had the seat off it took me a bit to get the fitment quite right, but I've apparently gotten used to it now, because I had no problem getting it back on.

Mine isn't 100% tight...I was able to get it to shift around a slight bit, but not much more than a millimeter or so in any direction.

Thanks all!

I will probably install some sort of insulator piece on it. Kind of infringes on the ride when I gun the throttle and I can feel the seat shift

I am concerned that the "tongue" on the underside of the seat pan isn't under the metal bracket on your bike. Take your seat off and re-attach it to make sure, starting with the front of the seat first, sliding it into place, and then pressing down on the rear of the seat to make it latch.

If you have already done this, and your seat is just ill-fitting, then excuse me for doubting you.

Actually I remember having this problem as well at first, and it did jiggle around alot more/not look right.

No worries about doubt, as ideas are ideas!

I did do a lot of checking on it today. Hell, I even unbolted the rear subframe and the rear mounts for the gas tank to make sure that everything was lined up properly. Still, to no avail. It just seems as though the tongue on the seat is not completely seating in the area.

I have some issues with mounting the tank (I have to push it forward to get the front portion of the mounting tab to line up properly) and at first thought that something had severely shifted from it's impact over a year ago. But, after looking it over, I doubt it.

Will just have to plod along. It should be ready for inspection in the coming week(s) and on the road! Got the turn signals working (posted in parts swapping thread), headlights squared away, and all the majors fixed. Even ordered a new set of frame sliders from Skyking. Just waiting on those and the sidestand switch (from bikebandit....have to learn to order at least 2-3 weeks in advance of when I want the part from them) and it's ready for the road.

Hoping to see SDFour and all at Summit in June! I'll still be getting used to the bike before I decide to take it on a track run, but for now......the seat rattles!!!!

:-D

I will probably come up with some sort of bracket/adapter that will better "grab" the front of the seat. Will post some picks.....unless it looks too shoddy
