Since I just totalled my bike, which REALLY SUCKS and I DO NOT recommend, I have been thinking. On one hand, I loved my S4 which I had for a short 3 months , 2600 miles. On the other hand I found somethings that I did not especially care for about the bike, like riding long distances, wind and a few others. I have possibly found a 2003 S4 with about the same miles and the same price I paid for mine, which I could probably buy. Also, before I bought my current S4, I was looking at the Yamaha FZ6 which has been updated quit nicely. I am not sure what I should do, go with the replacement S4 or go to the 2007 FZ6 which will probably be better suited for me.
Comments welcomed.
Thanks,
Derick

Take the FZ for a test ride, If it out performs the S4 in handling, power and you can live with a sterotypical jap bike that you will see at least 3 or 4 every time you take yours out for a ride then buy it. But if you want a unique piece of machineary that does a lot of things well take the S4 at the end of the day it's your choice. Hope you find the right bike for you.

1) Sorry to learn of the crash but you sound like you're in one piece
2) Take the Fazer/FZ out for a ride and then you'll have a comparison. If most of your long distance miles are on the motorway/freeway then upright bars and a bigger screen might suit you better. However if you like to take the back roads when you can then I suspect Speed Four will be king

Buy whatever takes your fancy after testing everything in sight, I loved my S4 and the only reason I changed was to buy a 955 daytona, if the choice was between an S4 and a fazer the S4 would win every time and if I could have two road bikes and enough time to play I would have another S4, but thats me and you have to go your own way, DD. :-D

You'll have to excuse the Cheap One - he's been nippin' grampa's hooch. That doesn't make him wrong, of course - the Speed Triple is is a monster. But it sounds like you're looking for a four.
If you didn't like doing distance riding on the S4, you ain't gonna like the R6 any better, and probably worse. I'd say look into getting the S4 and maybe a seat or something, but then I have a personal bias toward the European bikes.

I had similar thoughts a while back because I thought the S4 uncomfortable on longer trips so test rode a few bikes including the Sprint. As Cheapy says it is an incredible motor but I didn't think it was that much of a difference to the 4 - in terms of enjoyment, just different. What was odd was I found I didn't really care much for fairings - I like being buffeted by the wind makes me feel more in contact with whats going on, the experience felt too removed. Question is how much long distance are you going to do? I agree with every one here take a test ride - in fact take a few, you never know you might like cruisers!!!

Speed Triple - Once you ride it, your decision will be made.
