Does anybody know the operating temperature of the S4?

I ask this because I was sitting at a stop light this morning and my bike termperature jumped to 107 degrees celcius. The fan came on to cool it down to 100 degrees which is about where it stayed for the rest of the ride. I made sure last night that I had plenty of fluids (coolant, oil, brake fluid).

Just curious, I have a fear of the bike over heating.

You will see that number regularly when you are stuck in traffic. The way my fan is currently set up, it kicks in at 104. The temperature continues to rise up to 107 sometimes, then slowly falls back down to 99 or so. If the bike is in motion, it falls faster. Normal slow riding temperature is aroun 97, and at normal cruising speeds it can get down to somewhere between 75 and 90, depending on outside temperature. During a track session in hot temperatures, it can get very hot, but cools back down fairly quickly.

Hope this helps alleviate your concerns.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

I would say don't worry at all about it till you see "HI" on your instrument cluster. Wed was something crazy like 112 on the heat index and the bike did fine in very stop and go traffic. Besides... you still got till something like 120C. it can go up to till the "HI" appears on your cluster. 120C is somthing like 250F. That seems a bit low to me for a water cooled engine.

Just 0.02 Not to be quoted or lived by.
