hi all,

has anyone done any long term 'testing' of the baglux bagster tank covers?

worryingly i noticed how the paint on the 06 s4 was scratching up around the knee area of the tank. a bit of tcut sorted it, but i want to prevent erosion rather than keep polishing through all the time.

i've looked at the 'tankslapper' transparent sheets, and although like the idea of non adhesive film, i'm not convinced they'll live up to my picky tastes. most clear protective sheets end up looking a bit sh!tty quickly.

i saw a baglux cover on an s3 today and thought it looked pretty stylish.

so its more for protection than tank bag etc, but that of course could then be a bonus.

a few questions though-

how do they stand up to rain etc? is there any problems with moisture getting trapped in there?

is there any long term scratching? i want to use it to protect the paint work, - the paint doesn't seem to be as good as my t3, preservation is key!

does the cover and the tank seem to be happy with it permently being on? don't want to be farting around with the straps on a regular basis.

cheers for any input received!

Had a Baglux tank cover on my last 5 bikes, never any problems. Have had them for the main purpose of using a tank bag, rather than paint protection. Do not trust magnetic tank bags, have not had a lot of luck with them!(Bike Instructor with expensive radios that do not bounce very well). When covers have had to come off (when removing tank for example) paint always in good nick.
Couple of tips when fitting,
1. Clean tank VERY well, nice layer of polish, do not be too fussy about removing it all.
2. Warm cover up first, airing cupboard or similar, then put cover over tank LOOSLY first, do not do straps too tight. Leave out in the sun(!) or a warm garage(!?) to get more into shape of tank, then tighten straps.
3. Care with strap round head stock, run behind any cables so straps do not foul on them.
Baglux good to deal with, had a clip break on one of my bags, called them, 24 hours later, new clip, no charge.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the info and advice.
i have heard of peoples tanks getting a 'swirl' effect when the cover rubs the dust etc that is trapped between the cover and tank.

jurys still out on this one. its alot of £££ to spend on paint work protection if it ends up as bad or worse than than without. :???:
