I don't want to shell out cash for the luggage rack for the back of my Speed 4. It sucks there's no locations for a bungee. So, this leads me to looking into a good tank bag. I don't need anything too big.....any recommendations on what to get (or not to get!)
Thanks

I asked the same question about a month ago and received numerous responses. Everyone seems to have their preferances depending on what size tank, kind of bike, sort of travel you're planning on doing, etc. Search on tank bags and you'll get a bunch of ideas.
Personally, I wanted a mag tank bag so I didn't have to mess with a harness. Went for the tri bag from tourmaster/cortech. 82-406 model. Looks pretty versatile. Haven't gotten it yet, so I'll let everyone know how it works out.
The best bet is to find a store that actually has the bags and look at them. Catalog pictures suck and you really can't tell of the quality until you order one and then most times you're stuck with the bill.

i've got a Marses bag. i think its the 15 liter one, anyway it has a main compartment and 4 pouches, plus a front pocket for maps. its medium sized and with the riding position of the sp4, its perfect. my chest sits comfortably on it while riding.
when you want to tuck in, its no problem. i would just recommend not getting a tall tank bag cuz you'd never be able to tuck for speed. cost hurt though, $ 105!! well later and have fun shopping.

I use the Icon Urban Tank Bag for my commutes. I'm not sure about the capacity, but it will hold quite a bit and it's not very tall. The map window is handy for my EZ Pass toll transponder and it also converts into a backpack when you are off the bike. It fits the S4 tank pretty well, I havne't had any problems with it sliding around.

Zane,
I just took a look at the Icon Urban Tank Bag. Looks a lot like what I need. Two things for clarity:
1) You said it fits the tank and stays put, right? I want to use a magnetic bag, but I always worry about it sliding.
2) I have EZ-Pass in both my cars and would love to use it with my bike. Does it work well at the tolls or are you always worried about it not working?

I've been using the Sargent Cycle Metro bag for a few years now and it's been great no complaints at all.

It has a rubber pad on the bottom of the bag, so it stays in place pretty well.
I have been pretty lucky with the EZ Pass. I only can remember one time that it didn't work, at the Triboro Bridge, probably because I pulled to far to the right to avoid some fluid in the middle of the lane. I just took it out and waved it a little bit and the gate opened.

I use the Rev Pack tank bag on my TT600 and I love it. I've had it since 1996 and it is still in excellent condition. The bag:

Icon users- any trouble with slippage, is it just the four magnets on the 'wings' or is the botton also magnetic?

It is just the 4 "wings" that are magnetic. I'm not going to say it never slipped, but I haven't had any real problems, and I use it everyday.
