My two gripes with my S4 are the vibes through the bars at 7K+rpm and the slightly sporty bar position. I don't want to fit lsl bars etc as I think only a slight change to the bars up and back a bit would sort things out - any solutions/ideas? Everything is ok for blasting around but longer trips become a bit of a pain.

I know what you mean... there are times Id like to just ghost ride this bike off a cliff. And other times Id like to take it to bed with me. The buzzes ARE annoying, no doubt. I can deal with the riding position though, Im young enough.

I just bought a D675 to complement my Speed 4 and the S4 is a whole lot more comfy than it. I love the S4 except for the little glitch at 3500 rpm which sucks.

Funny, I was just thinking how much more comfortable my S4 is to my S3 and if I should put clip-ons on the Triple. To each his/her own...

The S4 clipons seemed a bit low when I first got the bike, but now they seem ideal even for 300 mile days of light touring. In fact, I would be looking for the same setup on my next bike which would be more of a tourer.

I had a Sprint ST before the S4 and its ergos felt about the same.

hmmm, i have never noticed any buzzing- it was one thing i was concious of when buying because of owners reviews. in fact less vibes than my t3.
i can't say clip ons have bothered me. i've found that whatever on an unfaired bike something will 'suffer'. the bandit had a more s3 bar set up, which resulted in windblast to the chest, that could be fatiguing, the s4/t3 took a few rides to build up wrist stamina- low speeds are a little achy at first but don't notice it now. i feel more in control and 'at one' with the bike with clip ons.
also the low speed surge- don't notice it really. second nature now to use the clutch and throttle to smooth it out.

a cheaper suck it and see method would be raask bar raisers. they clamp on where the s4 clip ons go, require no drilling/expensive mods/top yoke removal. just bars and i would guess cables.

Those are pretty cool - I hadn't seen any options but the LSL handlebar conversion. The price of those adapters is certainly a lot nicer than LSL's stuff...

Also, along with a bar conversion could come a bar snake to quell vibes.

I think Mr. Cactus hit it right on the head,
It's all about stamina (in more then one sense  ). My d650 hurt my wrists at first, but after putting a few hundred mile on it I was fine (until I put a few thousand miles on it hit the eject button and she really hurt my wrist...lol). Same thing with the seat, at first I didn't like it but now its fine.

I jump on my friends R1 or my buddies 600rr and they both feel awful for me, but they feel the same about mine. It's just getting used to it and building up strength in the places that support you while you ride.

My 2 cents or a little more

That actually won't work.
The raask risers leave no room for a handlebar, due to the pre load and rebound adjusters.
