The rear BT-010 has finally bitten the dust @ 4800 miles, as they're discontinued and I need to change both what do you fellas use/suggest? A CBR600RR mate has just fitted Michelin Pilot Roads and likes them a lot - anyone used these? Many thanks in advance.

I've had a Pilot Road, Pilot Power and Diablo Corsa rear tire. All with a Diablo Corsa front tire, and BT010's as a set. And here's how I'd rate them

4. BT010:
+predictable on the limit
-poor mileage
-poor grip
-poor flickability

3. Pilot Road:
+excellent mileage
+decent grip on dry
-very poor grip on wet
-poor flickability

2. Pilot Power
+good grip
+predictable behaviour on the limit
-seems to wear out very quickly on the track
-flickability leaves something to be desired

1. Diablo Corsa
+Excellent flickability
+Excellent response
+Very good grip
+gives plenty of track miles
-street riding wears it out quickly

I like the Pilot Powers, best street tire I've ever ridden on, but since I'm getting tired(mainly my wallet) of replacing my rear every 2600-3000 miles, I'm getting ready to switch to Conti Road Attacks. Hope they are decent, I've heard great reviews, and can't wait to try them out. They're supposed to give better mileage with very little sacrifice of grip, we'll see. :-D

I really like my Conti Road Attacks. I would say they have about equal grip as the BT-010. I never ride in the rain or when its wet outside so I can't say much about wet grip. They roll smoother and quieter than the BT's and turn in quite a bit faster. Braking power is excellent. Overall a better tire, no doubt about it. Just and FYI on these tires... The fronts are made in Korea, rears in Germany.

Google search "canyonchasers road attack" for the review.

Pirelli Diablos are the best street tires I have ever used. Emphasis here is on street, not track. I am very happy with Pilot Powers on the track. Diablos weren't bad, just not as good on the track as the Michelins. If you are not doing trackdays, Diablos have all the grip you should ever need. They warm quickly and stick pretty well on cold, wet pavement. I got 14K miles out of a set on my TT600. That is a bit extreme and reflects a lot of riding on cold, wet roads so the tires didn't get hot enough to wear all that much. My guess is that they could easily last 10K miles in normal, traffic-flow riding, and 6K to 8K in spirited street riding. I found Diablos to be a little unpredictable at the limit, with unfortunate but not disasterous results, so I wouldn't recommend them for trackdays if you are planning to really push hard. Corsas or Pilot Powers do better on the track.

Come spring, I will have a good idea of how Pilot Powers hold up. They have about 500 miles on them, and of those 500 miles, 300 are track miles.

You should try Diablo Corsas on track. In my opinion they're far better. Or at least the rear is

Adding to Will's recommendation:

I hear that the Pirelli Diablo Strada is a great sreet tire as well. With clamied longer street life than a standard Diablo. Since Pirelli and Metzler are in Kahoots, the comparable Metzler is the Z6.

I dont think you can really go wrong with any brand ...'cept Bridgestone. Masters of cupping.

I have tried Corsas on the track. They felt nearly the same as Pilot Powers. The difference is that when they were completely toasted, there was a Michelin dealer at the track, but no Pirelli dealer. So I made the switch and was plenty happy with the new tires. They wear more evenly and have far less cold tearing than the Corsas did. In a warmer climate, the Pirellis might be a better choice. I was thinking about trying Dunlops, too, but the dealer for Dunlop wasn't there when I needed tires, either.

I agree with Cheap,

Road Attacks.

I have the Pilot Roads on my S3. They wear well but are numb in the handling department.

I personally like the pilot powers even though they do wear fairly quick. I think I'm on my 4 or 5 rear now. I know what to expect out of this tire and I'm going to stick with it until it is changed or not produced anymore. IMO I like to have trust in what my tires will do and every tire is different so I am sticking with powers for now.
