For the first 15 minutes of operation my S4 seems to make a weird sound. It is coming out of the right side, it happens at exactly 5000 RPM, anything below or above and it's fine.

The sound is not unlike the fuel injector sound, but about 4x the speed. All in all sounds like a resonance of some sort, but today in close listening I am wondering if it's clutch related.

Any thoughts?

I Have the same thing. It's a short high tone buzz. Like:

vroooooooommmm, BBZZZZZZZZZZ,vroooooooom

It;s not alway present though.
I don't think much of it, I think it's a resonance intrinsic to the bike. Anyone else who has it?

I forgot to tell my dealer about it at my firt 1000 km service but i'll doubt he'll do something about it.

After paying careful attention, the sound goes away after about 10 minutes of riding. ***!?

Probably because nobody knows what it is. I sure don't, since my bike doesn't do that.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Loose (or bad fitting) RHS air scoop perhaps. The plastic bits are always a source of strange noises.

I have the same buzz. I think it is coming from the muffler can. If you hit it with the ball of your hand (make sure it is not hot when you do this) you may hear a metallic rattle. The inner metal baffle is loose inside. Try it!

It's the fly screen. Put you hand on it while the noise is happening. I'll bet it goes away. There have been many posts about this noise before. I don't know what the tapping sound is, mine does it sometimes too, but someone once mentioned it could be the fuel injection valves or something. Don't know anything about the mechanics, but the guy seemed to know, and said it was nothing to worry about.

It really sound like the fly screen, at least mine did that, I unmounted it and put a thin rubber/foam band, basicaly I made a kind of gasket every where there was contact between the screen and the speedo panel. no more bbzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Not the screen, I tried that a while back when one of you mentioned it. It is coming from the right side under the gas tank - well lower altitude wise anyhow. The muffler baffle sounds like it could be a winner. I'll check it out - thanks!
