What kind of life are you guys seeing for an inline four engine? I have a TT600 and I was wondering just how long I can expect to get from it before a rebuild or engine swap...I know alot has to do obviously with how well the motor is taken care of but assuming it is well maintained and not used on the track all but occasionally, how many miles do you think until it is just plain worn out?

It will last pretty much forever if you take care of it and don't thrash it within an inch of its life all the time. My 2001 lasted 45K miles before a con rod let go on the track, but the fuel cutoff was higher than stock and it had quite a few track days on it as well. It was a feral bike that lived outside in the driveway and got all rain, snow, and everything else on it that came from the sky. It got hit by trucks, knocked down on the freeway, dropped on the track, hit by my son's basketball, and generally lived a very tough life. It never used a drop of oil until it dumped all the oil out of a huge hole in the front of the engine. Even then, it kept running. I can't say enough about how durable the Triumph I4 is. My guess is that your bike will live a much easier life than mine did, and will last exponentially longer.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Compared to the Harley V-twins, the engine requires more upkeep in the form of valve adjustments, but will run much longer without a rebuild.

It must have been the basketball that did it in :-D

33k miles on my TT600 and it runs better than new. Unforunately I haven't been riding much this year.
