Weve tried the patch and the gum, she won't quit.

Anybody got a clue why a 2000 tt600 would smoke, white smoke that is, significantly? I just bought the bike. The oil was a little overfilled and it was all in the airbox, etc. How long does it take to burn it all out? I have put a hundred or so miles on it and it still smokes. Suggestions please! :???:

oof. no good basis in bikes here, but generally motor speaking... did you try and replace the air filter (did the oil get in there?) ?

If not that, is all the overflow in the top side cleaned out? May be worthwile to disassemble the intake and make sure it's dry in there. Otherwise, you'll be dripping little drips forever and a day.

If not that, drop some purple zyban pills in That was how I quit smoking.

If the airbox is full of oil, you may be seeing the aftermath of a right side tip-over. The crankcase breather goes from the right side of the engine into the airbox AFTER the air filter. If the airbox gets full of oil, it can foul the valves if it cooks on. That makes for a long term mess to deal with. What you need to do is pull the tank and airbox, clean out the airbox and anything else you can reach that has a lot of oil residue in it. If that doesn't help, check in again and let us know.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

I hate to mention it, but in a car at least, white smoke usually indicates that coolant is being burned during combustion. Oil smoke usually has a bluish tint.

IMHO (& from what my first chief-mechanic taught me)

White smoke = coolant-steam or small amounts of fully burnt oil (e.g inlet valve guides or breather oil into the air-filter)

white-grey smoke = tons of oil or half burnt oil (e.g rings or exhaust valve guides)

Black smoke = fuel

Blue smoke = The Red Arrows :-D

dkeith I agree with Will it is most likely oil in the airbox. Mine did it due to a poor seal on the crankshaft breather (under the right side crank cover) It looked like steam at first.

Need to get it fixed as it makes the bike run more sweetly.

Mine was a guarantee job but only took 30min

Good Luck Jon
