So Im finding out that the Pass button feature is almost completely worthless. For that odd person you have to flash every blue moon I guess its OK. But, when that time comes, the pass button gets so little useage that I just forget that it exists.
But... What if...
What if the pass button was actually reversed so that it acts like a dimmer when you have your High beams on. So logically when you pass someone, you hold the "pass" button and can release it when you are past them. Instead of thumbing the high beam switch back and forth all the time with your clumbsy thumb.
Does anyone know how this can be done?
EDIT: insight for you Europeans.... In the US, we don't flash to pass in the fast lane.....ever. They either move over when you come up on them, or we go around.

better yet, why not rig the button to release missles out of the air intakes. but your idea is clever.

You just haven't activated it. The little known function of that button, once activated, is to launch the bike with a shot of the magic smoke, causing it to leap ahead of whatever is in the way. The activation routine is complex, involving small, furry animals, a full moon, a Pict in a cave, and some blue body paint.

It wouldn't be too hard to rewire the switch the way you mention - it's a simple momentary switch, which presumably goes to a relay, which activates the brights. You would probably want to change that relay to one that defaults to 'on', letting current through (that way if the relay blew up you wouldn't lose your brights), and the wire it to the brights after the normal brights relay...

ehhh, i dunno. i ride early mornings a lot, and don't wish to blind oncomers with the hibeams and so leave them off most of the time.
the switch is great cuz i can pulse the hibeams as i am hurtling at 75mph down the 2 lane hiway at other folks trying to get on said hiway on their way to work.
maybe i should slow down.
nah.

I love that little trigger. Use it all the time, day and night to get thru intersections without being hit by the dip shti talking on the cell phone. It has saved my ass a few times. You cant see what you are'nt looking for and it wakes people up and Makes them see you.

I am planning on rewiring mine to activate my garage door opener over the winter
Figured it would be a smart way to use it

I never get to use mine as I ride w/ the high beams on all the time. I'd rather blind people than be considerate and have them forget that I'm there. It's probably the wrong way to go about it, but that's just what I do.
