Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

i have to replace the speed sensor... is this a common thing?

will it hurt the motor if the ecu doesnt know how fast its going?

OK one a time:

1. Personally I've never heard of anyone else having to replace the speed sensor.

2. Looking in Tuneboy I can't find anything in the ecu map that needs to know your speed.

3. Isn't the all yellow bike a different paint to the yellow and black? - Also aren't the paint codes given on the factory site?

Boyscout.

Speedo sensor failure is pretty much inevitable. I got through something like three of 'em over the years. The way it works is a magnet that hooks to a couple of tabs on the front wheel hub. If you take it all apart and clean it, it may work for a while longer, but the magnet eventually just deteriorates. It is a part that is common to all Sagem injected Triumphs, as far as I know. It is the same on my brother's Speed Triple, anyway. The ECU doesn't know or care how fast you are going.

The paint color on a 2001 TT600 is called Racing Yellow, and it is almost identical to a Chevrolet color called Millenium Yellow.

Yeah, the speedo thing sucks.

There is on on Ebay right now. The ones off the speed triples, speed fours, sprints, and all daytona' s(till current I think) are the same. make sure it's one of the newer non-600's if you go that route.

I think it's 2000 that they switched to the 5 lug brakes and different front wheels.
