...other than me?

Laid it down about 20 yds from my driveway coming home from he store. Wierd spot in the pavement right next to my house. Laid one of the Harleys down there about 10 months ago. Exact same spot just going the other way. 10-15 mph max both times. Slowing coming to the corner and the front end washed out. Never really even had close calls on the road with traffic or in the twisties and the street in front of my house eats my lunch. Really sickening feeling looking at the poor girl out in the garage.

Pretty bad cosmetic damage on the left side of the bike. The flyscreen and the tail section will have to be replaced. The left side engine case is trashed. The radiator cap is messed up, not sure about the radiator itself. The tank has a chunk out of it and will have to be replaced. Left mirror mount snapped in half and the switches and housing as well as the left bar (Vortex clip-on) is done. Aluminum bracket that holds the gauge cluster is broken. Left headlight housing is done. Scuff on the frame.

I'm worried about my insurance rates going up. I started the claim process earlier this afternoon about 20 min after the mishap and it is unfortunately going on as a fault collision. If my deductible wasn't only $250 I'm not sure I would have filed the claim. As it is I want it fixed right rather than just covered up.

Should know the total damage later this week. The frame is really what I am worried about. Afraid it might not be repairable and the cost to replace will take the total cost over the "totaled" threshold.

Sorry to hear about your crash. Not to make you feel worse but I laid my bike down and had similar damage. My bike was totaled. I bought it back from the insurance company and fixed it using parts from ebay. I actually profited a couple hundred because of the ridiculous OEM prices for bodywork.

The "totaled" word is the one that I don't want to hear. The body work is really only scuffed. I could live with it that way for a while until I find aftermarket bodywork. It's the bars, handcontrols, guage mount and engine stuff that I'm really worried about.

same here, ours had similar damage, left engine casing, ignition, front fairing,forks,tank...it was totaled....shop even tried to play it down, but an '03 Speed Four is only blue booked at $4500.....

and to try to fix it ourselves , Speed Four parts are hard to come by.....

the igniton and forks I think is the main big parts that totaled ours out.

so maybe you have hope there for yours!!

Good Luck....

I don't exactly remember the total for bodywork for my bike but I believe for the tail center, tail left, pixie hat, seat cowl and rad cowl it was close to $1800. I picked up a complete handle bar, with all the controls and clutch lever, in perfect condition on ebay for $30. I got the stator cover and gasket from the dealer for about $85. The bad news is that parts for S4/TT600s are hard to come by, but there isn't a huge market for them, so if you can find the used or salvage they are cheap. FWIW, the shark skins solo tail is about $215. Good luck and I hope you get it together soon.

Sorry man, that really sucks. Not to be a smart ass but how much would it cost to fix that spot at the end of your drive way?

Its been my experience with my friends wrecked bikes that any frame damage leads to the bike being totaled out by the insurance company. Aluminum is basically unrepairable. Sorry to hear about your loss.
