So I am now having to go to my 3rd battery on my 650 and the dealer says they can't warrant it, so I have to buy it. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket battery that will work? Like I said, it's my 3rd, so I want one to last. I had Cycle Barn check my bike out, so I know its not the bike; I just have sh**ty luck with batteries, I guess.

Crappy luck indeed. Have you considered going solar? - Seriously, how many batteries in what amount of time? They should last a couple of years at least. Keep them on trickle chargers over the colder NW months.

How often do you ride your bike, and how far do you ride it? If you ride nearly every day and ride a decent distance, five or ten miles, then your batteries should last just fine without a Battery Tender or something like that. If the bike sits a lot, then you should plug it in.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

It all started with an aftermarket alarm draining the first one, but after that it was all down hill. If I let it sit more than a day or so, it wouldn't start. Now when i jump it off the tach or speedo won't even register. There's no hope for this one, I just wanna make sure the next one lasts more than six months. The first battery made it about 6 months, this one is about 10 or so. Of course this isn't a complaint, I would never complain about anything on my baby (just in case she's listening)...

p.s. The alarm is loooong gone, now....

I'm now on my 3rd battery at 8000 miles. I ride almost every day, 6 miles each way to work for about 9 months of the year. The first lasted over 2 years, but the last one was only 15 months. We'll see how this one goes.

I have a Yuasa, and it works great so far. They also come with a manufaturer's warranty.

I've had some recent battery woes as well - my stock Yuasa (sp?) battery lasted 4 years on my '02 Speed Triple without ever hooking it up to a trickle charger. I bought a new Interstate Battery at Seattle Cycle in early April and it bit the dust and left me stranded after only 3 months. The new battery (also an Interstate) has been working just fine lately...

I live in an apartment complex and our shared garage does not have electrical outlets that I can easily plug a trickle charger into... Guess when it starts to get nasty weather-wise here in Seattle, I'll pull the battery out of the bike and keep it on a charger in the apartment!
