So I did the "external crankcase breather" mod. Now the bike seems to be leaking even more. My guess is that instead of the oil draining back to the engine, as it would in stock form. The oil drains out more easily. Anyone with thoughts or comments?

You will probably need to replace the breather seal. The external breather doesn't replace the seal, but it prevents any oil that does get past from going into the airbox. Some oil that gets into the airbox probably drains back, some is burned in the engine, some leaks through the seam in the airbox, and the rest drains out the drain hose when you park the bike on the sidestand. Did you install a catch hose below the breather? If not, it will just leak out the breather filter. You could try mounting the breather up high, so the oil drains back, but you would have to make sure that it doesn't get any water in it.

Joe, I totally copied your the picture on your setup to a T. Small airfilter, brass T and collector hose routed with the rest of the fluid overflow hoses. I was getting a drop or two before after riding the bike. Now I'm getting a lot more. Guess I need to get the $36 rubber seal.

I reckon Jo's description is spot on.

By making the mod your bike is running better - because the oil from the breather is no longer being burnt and messing your power up. It is now dripping on the floor!!

sorry but it sounds like it!

Where are you getting the leak from? I remove the rubber cap on the end of the drain hose every once in a while to empty any oil collected. I've never had any oil come out of the breather itself.

The leak is coming from the colletion hose, not out of the breather. I will order a breather seal in the next day or so.
